In an effortless win over Jamaica HS, Townsend showed why they are once again headed for the playoffs.  Putting up 100-plus scores across the board, the girls bowled a decisive victory.

Strong performances by their “A” and “B” teams allowed the “C” team to bowl. The “C” team tallied a total of  326 points, which was more points than Jamaica’s “A” team had been able to score. A career-high game by Sophomore Cindy Lin who bowled a 114 which helped the “B” team win their match by a landslide.

In Game A, Townsend Harris came out strong, lead by Seniors Ellen Huynh, Jamie Pfeiffer, Morgan Wu, and junior Michelle Schweiger, who combined for a total score of 519 pins, a truly dominating performance over a Jamaica High School score of only 287.  In Game B, Townsend left nothing to chance, bowling another magnificent score of 417, easily defeating the Jamaica squad’s score of 302.  Townsend’s “C” team finished the sweep by bowling a combined score of 326, beating a measly score of 273 that was put up by the girls from Jamaica.

Overall, it was a strong showing for the girls, something they hope to continues as they finish their regular season against Thomas Edison and Queens High School for the Sciences at York College, their division rival.  The Lady Hawks have already secured a spot in the playoffs and are now fighting for a higher seed.  In addition, seniors Jamie Pfeiffer and Morgan Wu, whose average scores of 131.00 and 126.07, respectively, qualified for the Borough Individual Championships next Wednesday.
