Les Mis tears up the stage

HTML tutorial

A war story. A love story. A story about pain, redemption, right, and wrong.

When it comes to a story like Les Misérables, you won’t have to choose.

Currently in its second Broadway revival, Les Mis tells the story of Jean Valjean (brilliantly portrayed by Tony nominee Ramin Karimloo), a former convict in mid-1800s France who has spent nineteen years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread, and for subsequent escape attempts. After his release, having broken parole, the people he meets – a kindly bishop, a working-women-turned-prostitute, an orphaned child, and a group of young revolutionaries – shape Valjean’s life and have their lives shaped by him.

Over the course of three hours, author Victor Hugo’s characters are brought to life – and death – on stage through Alain Boublil’s and Claude-Michel Schönberg’s stunning score. Notable characters include tragic worker and prostitute Fantine (played by Caissie Levy, who belts out “I Dreamed a Dream” with unrestrained beauty), her daughter Cosette (portrayed by the lovely Samantha Hill), whose shining outlook on life and love bring light to Valjean, and the police officer Javert, whose determination to catch Valjean and questioning of moral philosophy are captured astutely by Tony nominee Will Swenson.

This epic, soaring musical does not disappoint in any respect, and audiences will depart the theatre, teary-eyed but reminded of the tenacity of the human spirit.

Don’t wait one day more to catch this breathtaking work of art.
