On Friday November 1, the Girls JV Volleyball team played their final game of the season against Martin Van Buren HS at the John Bowne Gym winning their final game of the season.
Townsend ended their their season 5-1 tied for 1st with Francis Lewis. The girls played a great season showing much effort as well as growth individually and as a team. Freshman Abigail Calumpit said, “ Being on JV, I was able to grow in a pace that I could easily adapt, something Varsity offered otherwise.” Sophomore Eriselda Cuni stated, “ We played tight games because we always backed each other up.” Sophomore Gabrielle Avancena felt that the team played strong in their last game as well as throughout the entire season, she said “ we knew we had to make her [Coach Lymberatos] remember us, so we fought hard, improved on our skills with time, and gave her a successful season”. The future veterans of the team hope to once again have a successful season next year and Coach Penelope Lymberatos wishes luck to those who are moving on.
