THHS has been covering up its race problems for a very long time. I graduated in 2007, and even then, we had students making insensitive comments, using racial slurs, etc. I remember finding an anti-black slur written on a slip of paper and left in the music room. I went to the guidance counselor with it, but then heard nothing more about it. When speaking to another guidance counselor about the incident, I was specifically told that "THHS doesn't have a race problem" and that mine and others experiences were "better than they would be in other schools." Needless to say, I never brought up the issue again. I wish I could have been as brave as these students are.
